The Wet Mouse is one of my oldest patterns, dating back to the early 1970's when I was living in the woods at Baker's Hole on the Madison River and tying flies for Bud Lilly's Trout Shop in West Yellowstone.
Tied with a body of palmered pheasant aftershaft feathers and a partridge feather collar, this fly, though called a "mouse"--and looks a lot LIKE a mouse--is probably most often taken for a damselfly nymph when tied in the smaller sizes. Whatever the fish think it is--it works,
sometimes when nothing else will. Lots of built-in action.
Tied on a 2xl Daiichi or Tiemco nymph hook. |
