Mystery Gurgler What this unusual fly imitates is a mystery to me; hence the name. Maybe a crab, maybe a frog? Must look like something good to eat because fish (largemouth bass, peacock bass, and snook especially) love this fly. Try this fly also on stripers and tarpon and fish it as a crab imitation.

The Mystery Gurgler is tied on a stainless hook for use in both fresh and salt water.

Cast this fly into a likely-looking spot and let it just sit until the ripples disappear. Then give it a twitch or a "gurgle" and hold on! If this doesn't work, fish it slowly back to you with frequent pauses. Fish will often hit it when it's motionless, with just the hackles moving tantalizingly below the surface.
