A great surface(or slightly subsurface)fly with tantalizing action. I've used it to catch everything from trout on the Beaverkill to smallmouths on the Susquehanna to tarpon in the Florida Keys.
Tied on a somewhat heavy hook so that it doesn't float high but sort of "hovers" just underneath the surface, this fly deserves a place of honor in any angler's flybox. One of my very favorite flies for trout and bass.
While looking somewhat like the Gartside Bug,the Hoverbugger
uses a softer foam and is constructed differently so that it has a rounded, more beetle-like shape.
When two colors describe the fly, the first color refers to the color of the foam shell, the second to the marabou tail and /or the ribbing hackle. |
